Boy Scouts has been called a game with a "purpose". The "purpose" is to build
boys into men with strong morals and character. The "game" is to teach Scouting
skills in a fun and challenging manner.
The Boy Scout program is for boys ages 11 to 17. Boys who have completed the
fifth grade or earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award may join even if they
are not 11. Cub Scouting is NOT a prerequisite for becoming a Boy Scout, so
even if a boy has never been in Scouts before, he's welcomed by our Troop.
Our troop meets weekly on Tuesdays, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at a brick house
called "The Northbrook House" at 50 Houze Way that has been converted into a
multi-use building. Any interested boy and his parent or guardian are invited to
visit any regular Tuesday night meeting to learn more about joining.
If your Webelos Den would like to visit a meeting, please contact the Scoutmaster
or Committee Chairman so that we may plan for adequate handouts and
refreshments. Our tradition is to invite local Webelos Dens to go camping with
our Troop in November.
Our annual registration fee is currently $60 per scout (or $40 for registered
Webelos who are crossing over) The fee covers national registration, a
subscription to Boys Life magazine, and awards and badges. Extra fees are
charged on an event participation basis, such as camping, food, entry fees for
parks and other facilities. The annual registered adult fee is $10.
