Boy Scout Troop 985 was formed in September 1985. We
have weekly meetings at the Northbrook House and
monthly outings.
Webelos who cross over into our troop stay together as a
patrol for their first year so that they can rapidly advance
from Scout to Tenderfoot, Second Class and on to First
Class. After that, they join one of the 3 permanent
patrols. New scouts who are recruited into the troop by
current scouts get to join the patrol of their friend who
recruited them.
We recently outfitted the troop with all brand-new camping
equipment (tents, dining fly’s, stoves, lanterns, cook kits,
etc.), so we have terrific gear for our outings.
Troop 985 has awarded 4 to 6 Eagle Scout Awards per year
for the past few years. We currently have 15 Life Scouts
who are working toward the Eagle award.
Boy Scouting is available to
boys who are 11 through 17
years old. The program
achieves the BSA's objectives
of developing character,
citizenship, and personal
fitness. In Boy Scouting,
Scouts learn life skills,
explore the great outdoors,
meet new friends, give service
to their communities, and
much, much, more…
